Today's weather was fantabulous! Exactly what we needed 'round these parts! Even Goldie are pet groundhog made her first appearance today.(for those of you that don't know about Goldie-that's another story for another day)
The boys could not wait to break out the bikes. That was fun for about a minute when we discovered Parks grew about 3 feet over the winter and he looked like a grown man on a junior BMX. Next came the roller blades and hockey sticks. That lasted until they spied the bug nets and decided to go on an expedition. I suggested they not get their hopes up of discovering many bugs as it's barely been above -35 with 60 mph winds for the last 2 months (slight exaggeration) but they ignored my warning. As I paced the kitchen dreading an impending Nick crisis, the perfectionist side of his Tourette OCD renders him unable to rationalize bugs will not be plentiful on February 17, Parker ran in the house screaming- "Mommy, Mommy, Nick needs a box double time fast!" I remind him of Mount Cardboard Boxmore in the garage- then I saw the large box he took and I started to get rather curious as to what may have been "discovered". Out to the back deck I went. I see them jointly carrying the box- now I'm starting to get worried what they may have found. Was it alive? Were they going to ask me to give it mouth-mouth. Nick has asked me more times than I care to remember to perform CPR on birds, voles, even a toad or 12. Up the box comes and low and behold, what's in it...a very lethargic caterpillar...silly Mommy, boys know their bugs are always waiting to be found.
